Hello everyone! Today I'm sharing an lovely “Elephant with a Cupcake” Design!
This cake instructional is short and candy…however I'm hoping it brings a grin on your face! We sought after to create an animal of a few sort…and after just a little of consideration, a pink polka dotted elephant won out over the remainder!
Let’s get began!
First, we made a 9×thirteen sheet cake and reserved sufficient batter to make a cupcake too. Our elephant loves cupcakes! After baking the sheet cake, I drew out a template, which you'll be able to print out and use if you would like~ Click HERE to see!
Since I was working with a reasonably dense cake, I had no trouble carving out my elephant form whilst the cake was at room temperature. If you're running with a delicate cake, you can carve it whilst the cake is partly frozen.
Here we pass! ~
You’ll have a few scraps leftover~ don’t throw them away! You’ll need no less than one of the most scraps for a celebration hat ;0)
After carving, I frosted my cake with a Crusting Vanilla Buttercream. This has been tinted with slightly Americolor Deep Pink coloring gel. We have a couple of crusting Vanilla Buttercream recipes in our Recipes section, here's one in all them!: Classic Vanilla Buttercream.
Once my buttercream had had a possibility to crust (5-10 mins assuming that your cake wasn’t frosted whilst cold), I smoothed it with a Viva emblem paper towel. There are other strategies for smoothing, or you could comb the cake with a adorning comb. Anything is going! ;0)
After smoothing the frosting, I used an xacto knife to cut away the excess cake cardboard. All of my cakes rest on a cardboard, which makes it more uncomplicated to switch it to it’s ultimate base later. (If you’d rather do that “cut away step” earlier than frosting the cake, that works too!)
Now, to provide our elephant a candy face & some personality! This is the time so that you can have a laugh together with your design–however be happy to replicate mine in case you’d like!
I piped on some polka dots with a Wilton (medium spherical) tip 12. My buttercream dots are also tinted with Americolor Deep Pink coloring gel.
I piped on and filled in my elephant’s ear the use of my Wilton tip 12 additionally, after which smoothed it with a Viva paper towel after it crusted. The small dots and descriptions on my elephant had been piped with a Wilton tip 3 (smallish round tip).
The elephant’s eye is a chocolate chip (with a small buttercream dot in the heart). The eyelashes & mouth had been drawn with a toothpick!
You’ll see the total picture soon…however right here’s a sneak peek!
Our elephant may have been completed at this level, but we would have liked to offer her a birthday celebration hat & cupcake. It is a celebration, finally!
We lower a small wedge of scrap cake into a triangle and frosted it with some buttercream tinted with Americolor Electric Green. I discovered it easiest to pipe on my frosting with a Wilton tip 12 after which smooth it. You may also just use a celeb tip to get a special impact.
I frosted the party hat cake whilst it rested on a paper plate. After smoothing it, I chilled it within the freezer for 10 minutes to firm issues up, so that I may then pick out it up and place it on our cake board, proper where it belonged.
We adorned the party hat with Wilton Jumbo confetti sprinkles, and added fringe with a Wilton megastar tip 12. Our cupcake was “glued” to the board and elephant trunk with some dots of icing. Then, I used my 2D massive megastar piping tip to pipe on a bit of frosting.
Don’t cross too heavy at the cupcake frosting, or it may tip over! I added a few sprinkles..and a candle with a buttercream flame piped onto the wick!
That’s all there may be to it! I believe that this sweet elephant will be the absolute best guest for any toddler’s birthday party. I am hoping that you agree!
Thanks for stopping via, and if you're making a candy elephant cake of your own, we would love to see! Feel loose to depart a photograph in the feedback!
