This week will likely be our first time out in our new R Pod.My conclusions, understanding and asuptions are in line with what I've read online (the handbook is worthless) and the broker walk via was once over in Five mins. Please proper me if I'm mistaken, but here is my figuring out on easy methods to fill the new water tank and get the new water heater up and operating without destroying our new purchase.

2 separate situations -

First state of affairs

When staying at a campground with water and electrical hookups.

1.) attach camp ground water provide to R Pod "city water" inlet.

2.) connect campground power to R Pod 30 amp energy connector.

3.) open sink hot water valve to evacuate the air and watch for water flow.

4.) once water flows from the sink tap then the water heater tank is full so it is secure push the black transfer located in the water heater compartment to the on place.

Second situation

When camping in a far flung house with out power or water hook ups.

1.) fill the tanks in the course of the "potable water" inlet. The water tank and water heater tank will both be complete when the the potable water inlet starts the over float.

2.) turn on water pump and open taps to evacuate air and then use the LP gas to heat the water.

Am I on course or am I lacking one thing?

Thank in advance in your help,

Jeff

On your 2nd state of affairs #1, the water heater will not fill robotically. If the water heater is empty you will need to still run the recent faucet (using the pump) to fill it. You'll additionally get extra water storage this manner. Keep in mind that the water heater typically best empties while you do it manually. Normally it remains complete.

Yes, you might be lacking crucial step, this is to verify your bypass valves are open.  For a very easy approach to make sure yours is in the precise configuration cross to page 2 of this segment (repairs problems, guidelines and tips and near the bottom of the web page click on on winterization and you'll see what you want to do to steer clear of toasting your component.  It is unlucky that your broker walked you through in only 5 minutes- that is terrible.  Our walk via took about an hour, this dealer is situated in Escanaba, Michigan, and responded all our questions.  BUT, I nonetheless forgot to open the bypass valve and I nonetheless ended up frying my component, ugh!  You will still get water coming during the scorching water valve in your sink/shower even when the bypass is close, so do not assume you are good to move if water comes from your sizzling water aspect.  On our 177 the bypass is located underneath the bed, and now not simple to get admission to.  I stopped up reducing an inspection hole about 5" x 8" to present me simple get entry to.  Hope this helps.

So, I've got a 2014 RP-178...and just to confirm, to fill the new water tank, whether or not the use of city water hookup or water from my recent water tank, I need to activate my water pump and open a sizzling water tap, right? How do I do know when the tank is stuffed and secure to start out heating?

My scorching water transfer is located on the wall subsequent to my level signs...handy.

Post Options    Thanks(0)   Quote  Reply Posted: 03 Aug 2013 at 12:46pm LOL.. good enough, regardless of if you're hooked up to city water, or drawing water from the freshwater preserving tank, the procedure is identical.. open the hot water faucet till air stops popping out and water starts coming out.. water heater is complete at that time. The only distinction can be, sure, to use water from the retaining tank, you will have to tuen on the pump first.

The hot water transfer by your protecting tank indicator is for LP, if you're heating on elec. it's important to flip on the switch within the WH compartment. DO NOT flip it on until the WH is crammed.
